Luffy and Nami journey: East Blue saga

Syrup Village arc : vol 3 to 5, chapter 23 to 41

I-Leading the crew through Syrup Village

Vol 3, chapter 23:

After their little adventure with Gaimon, Nami leads Luffy (and Zoro) through their next destination, highlighting her navigation skills.

For the first time we saw Nami's real interest for navigation . It feels like she really wants to be luffy's navigator, like she feels at ease with guiding Luffy.

Besides, Luffy relying on her and asking her opinion with such trust is establishing the base of their relationships.

She's starting to be really serious about her role and seems to acknowledge helping luffy really well while he seems to enjoy her company a lot , once again relying on her.

(You really like her don't you Luffy? ;) )

Vol 3, chapter 24, Nami really do find interest in her adventure and mostly thanks to Luffy.

See the two of them enjoying some tea together ( if it wasn't for Zoro being there, I'd call it a date)

When Luffy starts joking and messing around with the kids that are looking for their captain Usopp, Nami seems really cheerful.

She enjoy his company a lot, he even makes her laugh; and that will be Luffy's role to Nami through the manga: make her happy.

Finally, when Luffy decides to ask Kaya for a ship (going against what they decided before), Nami scolds him .This is a point when Nami really embodies her role that she pretends not wanting to be associated with (but girl, Luffy saw all your potential, it's too late)

Vol 3, chapter 25:

After Usopp fight with Klahadore, Luffy decides to follow him.

And who thinks about him? Our girl; She is the one wondering where he is, meaning she feels safe with him.

Vol 4 chapter 28,

The fight between Krahador and the strawhat has finally started and while the mugi settled a plan to trap their enemy, Nami realized her treasure is in danger.

But what's matter even more for her treasure is Luffy arriving at time for stopping the attack of the village ( "hurry").

vol 4 chapter 30:

After Luffy beats all Krahador crew by being mesmerized by Jango, Nami proudly witness the situation. She looks so proud of him and impressed by everything he's done. Luffy inspires more and more respect from her.

Vol 4, chapter 33,

While Zoro is fighting the crew, Luffy is asleep (cause of the mesmerizing). Nami takes advantage of the situation to wake up Luffy so he can fight while she took protect her treasure.

"now's my chance" , Nami relies a lot of Luffy she trust him enough to take care of things she cannot.

Luffy is her chance in a way.

For waking him up, she decides to walk on him knowing she cannot really hurt him (Oh Nami x) )

Vol 4, chapter 34:

Jango, watching Nami trying to escape, throws a weapon at her but Luffy took it instead. Once again, even unintentionally, Luffy saved Nami. (Goda makes sure she's safe whenever she's with Luffy)

When she sees that,Nami is utterly shocked, she clearly doesn't want him to be hurt that way.

She is even more shoked when she sees how he took away the weapon from his head . That's when she realized he is indeed unbeatable in a way. (Yes he is your hero girl!)

And here is one of my favorite east blue LuNami moment: Luffy cannot believe Nami hurts him while she's terrified and feels really sorry and doesn't want him to believe she would ever do it .

But the second Luffy notices she's hurt, he forget about his own pain and worries about her (cute lovers like really I'm sobbing).

And while she's in pain she does her best to hide it and to find confidence for Luffy to win this fight.

(The two of them definitely are the cutest ever)

He then seems really proud of her but kind of puzzled by her softer behavior. Thus, when she talks about treasure he's even prouder to have her focus on what's matter to her.

He already knows her ! ( I CAN'T THE CUTENESS)

Vol 5, chapter 38:

Luffy's fight vs Krahador reaches its peak when Karahador uses his "out-of-the-bag" attack on its own crew. Luffy furious reaction let Nami shoked. She reflects her own situation and is touched by Luffy values and caring for people. It's those moments were she realized he is everything she looks for, every values that she loses hope in are back with Luffy's spirit. He is the man that will make her have faith in pirates and humanity(look at her face )

Vol 5, chapter 40

When the battle is finally over and Luffy is out of energy and is going to fall from blood loss so Nami catches him .

She doesn't want to let him down .

"The mighty Luffy" shows how strong she believes he is , he proved her how brave he is since the beginning of their adventure.

She asks him why he were so mad cause she needs to confirm her fledging idea that Luffy might indeed be a good guy while he's a pirate .

He knows how much she hates pirates and doesn't care why so it doesn't matter to him if she insults them. (A steak is obviously better)

vol 5 chapter 41:

Before their next adventure the crew decides to have some dinner.

Nami once again notices Luffy's strange habits and definitely categorizes him as "not normal". (Yes that dude really disrupts you Nami ;) )

In this arc, Nami continues to learn more about Luffy and starts realizing how great he is and every values he owns and spreads around him. Inside her she seems to regain hope in everything she believed thanks to Luffy, she starts finding her smile again. The idea that Luffy could be her hero might start developing in her head but after all, he doesn't owe her anything and Nami still believes she has to fight by herself.

Luffy is discovering her more too and is really happy and proud to see her embodies her role as his navigator. He relies on her on lots of decisions and is categorical on the fact that she is his navigator.

Once again good job Goda!
